We are now fully into the second semester of the school year. We had a few staff changes at the beginning of February. A special welcome Mr. Daniel Tessmann and Ms. Cassandra Giesbrecht to the LC Team. I know they will quickly see the great school and community we have the privilege of working in.

Congratulations to all our bands who performed so well at this year’s Optimist Festival.  All bands received high marks and complimentary remarks from the adjudicators. The Jazz Band is now preparing to play at the Brandon Jazz Festival on March 15 – 17.

Constable Gord Olson from the RCMP ICE Unit (Internet Child Exploitation Unit) will be back in Landmark on March 21 to talk to students (afternoon) and parents (6:30 pm) about to how use our devices safely and appropriately. He will talk about the risks of sexting and other behaviors that many are involved with. He will also educate the audience about how to protect themselves from online predators and how information about us can be very easily gathered from what we put online. This is an excellent information session for everyone in our community.

A variety of events are being planned. The Grade 8’s are planning a school wide floor hockey tournament on Wed. Mar. 7 to raise awareness for heart health. The grade 11 and 12 Biology classes will be going to St. Boniface research lab to get authentic research experience. Grade 8 and 10 students will be visiting Aletta Farms to see how the dairy industry works in our region. All grade 9 – 12 students will be going to the SRSS on Thursday, March 15 to hear Robb Nash and his powerful presentation on Mental Health.  Grade 12’s are beginning to make plans for grad and our social justice committee is planning a night of Escape Rooms to raise money for children who are victims of various
forms of slavery.

Many of our senior high students are busy with after school rehearsals for the Musical “Music Man.” The Musical will be held on April 26 and 27. Tickets to go on sale at the beginning of April.

Grade 7 & 8 report cards will be posted on the parent portal on Friday, March 16 and grade 9 – 12 reports cards will be posted on Friday, April 13. Parent-teacher conferences for all grades will be April 19, but please feel free to contact teachers whenever you have a concern that you would like to discuss so that early interventions can be put in place.

Divisional Inservices are on Friday, March 9 and Friday, April 6. No classes on these days.  Spring Break is from March 24 to April 1.

The annual ISCF pancake breakfast is on Saturday, April 7, 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. in the LC,gym. All proceeds will go towards the ISCF retreat in the Spring.

Congratulations to all our LC basketball teams for their participation in this year’s basketball season. You represented the community of Landmark very well. A huge thank you to our coaches Mr. Matt Feakes and Keenan Richard – Grade 7 boys, Alana Plett and
