It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun. It’s hard to believe how much was done in the last few months.

Congratulations to Ms. Kimberley Funk who has been hired to be the principal of the new Niverville High School. Kimberley will begin her new position on Feb. 1, 2019. She will remain as VP and guidance counsellor till then. Kimberley has been an excellent vice principal and guidance counselor at Landmark Collegiate for the past 5 years and we will miss her greatly. But we are very excited for Kimberley as she moves on to a new phase of her career, one that she deserves and will do very well at.

Congratulations to the Jazz band who performed very well at the Brandon Jazz Festival. Now the grade 7’s are preparing for the beginners band festival on April 24. Thanks to the Music Parent Association for all their work and support of the band program.

Thanks to our student council for organizing 3rd annual Lip Sync Battle. It was fabulous with students from all grades participating and it was great to see teachers involved as well.

Congratulations to the grade 8’s who raised $250.00 for the Heart and Stroke foundation. They made presentations to all students about heart health and then organized a school floor hockey tournament to raise money for the foundation.  Go to our website to read a full article by the students on this.

The next big event is our school musical, The Music Man, to be performed April 26 and 27 at 7:00 pm. Tickets will go on sale April 11. See our website for details. This will be an amazing night of music. Come see the terrific talent that our school and community has to offer. Thanks to all the staff at LC for their involvement in making this happen.

The school is organizing a mental health week from Apr. 9 to 13. A variety of presentations will be made to support positive mental health. Pink Shirt day will be recognized on Wed. Apr. 11.

Our Social Justice Committee is currently planning an Escape Room event for at the school for later this Spring. This will be a fundraising event where proceeds will go towards helping children escape various slavery situations around the world.

ISCF Pancake Breakfast is on Saturday, April 7, from 8:30 – 11:00 am, in the school gym. Proceeds will go towards their retreat later in Spring.

Grade 9 to 12 report cards will be posted to the parent portal on Friday, April 13, 2018. Parent teacher interviews for ALL grades will take place April, 19, 2018. We will also have our SY Course information night that evening. This is primarily for parents of students in grade 8 and 9 to learn about the Senior Years credit system and some of the options available to students as they begin to plan their final years in high school.
