As we head into the final two months of the school year, students and staff continue to make every day a meaningful day of learning. I often get asked if we are winding down. In fact, we are only getting busier. While trying to complete the day- to-day and year-end tasks, we are busy planning for next year as well.

Congratulations to the grade 7 band who performed very well at their first band festival on April 24.

A huge congratulations to all the students who made up the cast and crew for the musical The Music Man.  The four shows were amazing and it was a lot of fun for everyone. Thanks to all who came out to support our students. Thanks to all the staff for pitching in and making it a whole school event. Thanks to the following community members for their amazing contributions; Mike Plett (set construction), Kathy Plett (piano accompanist), Steven Andres and Josh Maendel (Sound Technicians), and Deb Rogalsky (videographer). And special thanks to our producers and directors, Ms. Friesen, and Mrs. Hashemian for all their hard work and late nights. Such an event is not possible without the dedication of these people.

On Friday, May 4, students and staff will enjoy a pancake breakfast to promote our sense of community. Later that day, students and staff will go out and clean up a bit of the winter garbage that was strewn around town.

Best of luck to our boys’ baseball team. Season starts on May 3 against Niverville in Blumenort. Check out our website for all game times and locations.

ISCF students are on their retreat from May 4 – 6. Thanks to everyone who came out to their Pancake Breakfast on Apr. 7. It was a record setting in terms of attendance and donations collected.

LC Social Justice Committee (SWAV) has been raising awareness about the victims of human trafficking. To support these victims, they are hosting a fundraising evening. The committee is developing an Escape Room that community members can book. The event will take place at the school on May 31 from 4:00 – 8:30 pm. Many details including the cost and booking arrangements are still being worked out. Our website will have more details as the planning develops.

Grade 7 orientation will take place at the end of May. Letters will be sent home to parents of grade 6 students regarding an information evening.  Grade 6 students will also be invited to Landmark Collegiate to get information about next year and meet their teachers.

HSD Festival of the Arts will be happening May 30 to June 4 at Clearspring Mall in Steinbach, MB.  The HSD Festival of the Arts was created to showcase talent in music, dance, drama and visual arts from across Hanover School Division.

Special thanks to the PTA and the parents who made lunch for our staff on Tuesday, May 1. We truly appreciate all the support we get from our community.
