We are completing the first semester and many grade 9 – 12 students are working on final assessments. Report cards for grade 9 – 12 will be posted on the parent portal on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019.
We have some new staff have joined our Landmark Collegiate team. Mr. Brock Martens will be taking over from Mr. Tessman and Ms. Cyndal Kiesman will be teaching half time for Ms. Penner. I know they both will quickly come to know the support this community provides all of us at LC in delivering a great education.
Ms. Penner and Mr. Wallace will each being doing half time guidance as Ms. Funk officially begins her position as principal of the Niverville High School.
A new semester of learning will begin on Feb. 4. Aside from the in class learning, Landmark Collegiate is providing a number of extracurricular learning events. Grade 8 students are heading to Camp Arnes from Feb. 13 – 15 for 3 days of outdoor education, late nights and good times. The Gr. 8, 9 and senior band students are busy preparing for the Optimist Festival coming up February 19 and 20. All are welcome to come watch the performances at the Winnipeg Convention Center. Many students are busy with after school rehearsals for the Drama The Imaginary Invalid which will be held on March 20 and 21, 2019. And we are planning a ski trip to Falcon Lake on March 7.
Sixer Basketball season is in full swing. Please check our website for schedules and practice times. A huge thank you to our coaches Noah Friesen – Grade 7 Boys, Christine Welsh and Jonathan Riemer – Grade 7/8 girls, Mr. Feakes and Keenan Richard – Grade 8 boys. Howard Plett and Derek Reimer – JV Boys, Nathan Plett and Mr. Feakes –Varsity Boys. We are hosting 14 nights of Basketball action. Come support your 96ers. See website for schedules.
Sixer Day is on Feb. 5, 2019 because it is the 96th day of school! Everyone is encouraged to wear their sixer gear or blue and white.
Grade 12 parents and students are encouraged to check our website regularly for updates on Post-Secondary Information. Many universities have their open houses in February.
