It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun. It’s hard to believe how much was done in the last few months.

Congratulations to Mr. Link Wallace who has been hired to be the vice principal at Landmark Collegiate staring in September. Link has served in the division in various positions working as a classroom teacher, alternative education coordinator, administrator and now learning support teacher and guidance counselor at Landmark Collegiate. Link brings a wide range of professional experiences that will serve the students and staff of Landmark Collegiate very well.  Link has been warmly welcomed in this community and loves working with the students at Landmark, which is why he was eager to apply for the position.  I know that he will continue to appreciate working in this great community that we all have the privilege of working in.

Congratulations to the cast of students of The Imaginary Invalid for their amazing performances on March 20 and 21.  The talented acting of all students led by Philip Rogalsky and Nadia Braun made this an absolutely joy to watch. Thanks to Ms. Melanie Friesen, Ms. Jennifer Hashemian and Mr. Adrian Pecold for their dedication to making this a great show. Thanks to those who came out to the evening performances and supported the students and our school.

The next big event is the senior high band trip to Chicago Music Festival, April 25 – 29. We wish our students well. The grade 7’s will perform at their first festival in Winnipeg on May 1.

Parent teacher Night and Showcase of Learning for all grades will be on Wednesday, April 17, from 4:00 – 7:30pm. Please call the office or go on the parent portal if you would like to meet with your child’s teachers. We hope to do something different this year in addition to the traditional parent teacher meetings. We would like to provide further opportunity for parents to see what their child is doing in school. Teachers will be set up in the gym for meetings and will have stations set up in their class where students can show parents what they are learning in their courses. Please come out and support your child’s learning. Refreshments will be served.

The PTA annual Spring Fundraiser will begin the first week of April.  Black Pearl Coffee, Vesey’s Bulbs, and Jack Links Pepperoni sticks are being sold as well as a 50/50 draw.  Contact either school for order forms. Proceeds given to LC will be allocated to the outdoor recreation project.

The RM of Tache’ has requested if we can make our SY students available for help should an emergency arise due to spring flooding. The School Division is allowing the school to take students to help fill or lay sandbags wherever the help is needed.  Later in May, all LC students will go out to clean the town of the winter trash that has been left behind.

Niverville Credit Union will sponsor a Landmark Collegiate student ages 15 – 18 who is interested in attending the Co-op Youth Leadership Camp at Riding Mountain Conference Centre, May, 2 – 5. The cost of the retreat is $350.00 and that covers lodging, meals, transportation (from Winnipeg) and retreat expenses. Students that have attended in the past have always reported a fantastic experience. Please contact Mr. Sawatzky by April 4 if you are interested.  For more information about the retreat, see the following website or contact Mr. Sawatzky at the school.   https://manitoba.coop/Page.aspx?MainPageID=about-co-ops&MenuPageID=youth

Thank you to the community for your tremendous support with all that happens at LC.
