1. There are no changes for schools despite the Winnipeg Metro region (Including Landmark) moving to code red. Schools remain in the Level Orange Restricted level. The rest of Hanover is now at the same level as Landmark.
    1. However today Public health officials are advising the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region that anyone who is symptomatic, or has a household member who is symptomatic, the entire household needs to self-isolate. The symptomatic individual needs to stay in their own room and, if possible, use their own bathroom and not use common areas. Exemptions are in place for asymptomatic household members if they are a health-care worker or first responder
  2. Despite the restrictions, the staff have also been working hard on creating a positive school climate. Last week we had a very successful spirit week. Staff and students dressed up in various themes each day. There was a great buzz in the school. Thanks to all the students and staff for their great participation.
  3. Hot Lunches – We have partnered with The Bistro at Freedom Foods to provide some hot lunches on Tuesdays and Fridays. Parents can go to our website to make their orders online. There has been a very positive response to this. Thanks to Ms. Nicolle and Marlene Gauthier for all that they are doing to make this possible.
  4. Grad – Last week we had two great luncheons for the graduating class of 2021. The lunch was one of the ways we are showing our grads that we are thinking of them and want this year special for them. I will send out more information to parents later this month.
  5. Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball –we are able to bring back varsity and junior varsity volleyball. Hanover School Division has developed return to play protocols, and we can begin practicing after 4:00 pm. Parents will have to attend a zoom meeting with Mr. Giesbrecht and both parents and students will have to complete some consent forms. Mr. Giesbrecht is sending information out today.
  6. Grade 9 Take Your Kid to Work Day is still happening on Wednesday Nov. 4. This year students will be at the school. Ms. Penner, our guidance counsellor has planned a day where students will be exploring various career options. We think this will be a very valuable day for our grade 9’s as they begin to think of life after school
  7. Report Cards for Grade 7 – 12 will be posted on the parent portal on Monday, Nov. 16.
  8. Parent teacher meetings – We will not be able to have in-person parent-teacher interviews, but we are working on some form of online meetings. More information will be sent out early next week.
  9. Picture Retakes are on Friday, November 6, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Grade 10 – 12 students who are not in school that day should call the office for an appointment.
  10. As we move into winter the chance for inclement weather increases. You can find school cancelation and bus delay information on the HSD website at https://hsd.ca
  11. Don’t forget to check out our online merchandise store https://landmark96ers.entripyshops.com/
  12. No School on November 9 and 11
  13. Finally, I want to say thanks for all the positive comments and encouragement we have received from parents. These are challenging times for everyone, and these sentiments have meant a lot to our teachers who are working hard to make learning a meaningful and enjoyable experience for our kids.
