Sixer Update – November 14, 2022

Here are some things to note for the upcoming month:

Report Cards

Report cards will be posted on the Parent Portal on Friday, November 18th at 1:00pm.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent/Teacher conferences will be taking place on Wednesday, November 23 from 4:10-7:00. Teachers will be available for short, 10-minute conversations regarding your child. Teachers will be stationed in their homerooms and additional staff will be around to direct you to the room you are looking for. If you have booked an appointment, please arrive a little early so you can find their class on time to make the most of the time you have.

To book an appointment, you may go online to the Parent Portal to schedule a meeting or call Ms. Nicolle in our office at 204-355-4020 or lc@hsd.ca. There may not be space and availability to get an appointment with each one of your child’s teachers. Consider booking with only the ones of most concern or just a homeroom teacher.

If making an in-person appointment for that day does not work, feel free to call Ms. Nicolle or reach out to the teacher directly to book an alternative time for a phone call.

Volleyball

  • Grade 7’s capped off their season last week. Once again thank you to the coaches and players for your hard work and dedication.
  • Grade 8’s start playoffs this week.
  • JV Boys and Girls zone playdowns were postponed last week due to the snow storm on Thursday. They have been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 15th.
  • Varsity Boys are waiting for their final provincial rankings. In addition, they will be hosting a Provincial Qualifier tournament at the school on Saturday, Nov. 19. If they are successful, they will move on to Provincials in early December. Come out to cheer them on!
  • Varsity Girls are waiting for their final provincial rankings. If they are in the top-16, they will earn a spot at a Provincial qualifier tournament. News should be coming out this week.

Winter Weather

As we move into winter, the chance for inclement weather increases. You can find school cancellation and bus delay information on the HSD website at https://hsd.ca.  It’s important that any student riding the bus have a warm jacket and gloves if the bus becomes inoperative while on route. Students will not be allowed to travel to shops, sporting events, or field trips if they are not dressed appropriately.
