The months of May and June are hardly slow. While trying to complete the day-to-day and year-end tasks, we are busy planning for next year.

Highlights

  1. Congratulations to our grade 7’s who performed very well at their first festival in Winnipeg on April 27.
  2. Thanks to all parents (and students) who came to the Showcase of Learning evening. The goal of the evening was to have parents connect with our school and find out a bit more about what their child is learning. Each year we get more families out and the feedback received has been very positive. Please make plans to attend next year.
  3. Individual classes continue to volunteer at The Salvation Army. The organization has been so appreciative of our help. 8B will be going on Friday, May 5.

Coming Events

  1. We will have 35 students attending the Gathering of Friends at Ginew School at Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation (RRAFN) on Friday, May 12. Through the GOF, Ginew School provides a unique opportunity for students and teachers in southern Manitoba to learn about, experience, and celebrate Indigenous culture in Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation. Over the past twenty-one years, Ginew School has hosted well over four thousand students from grades one to twelve from a variety of neighbouring school divisions.
  2. Sixer Baseball and Softball. Girls Softball Zone Playdowns are on May 23 and 24 in Landmark as well. Thanks to Mr. Rob Giesbrecht and Mr. Jordan Penner who are coaching the girls. The boys baseball team is coached by Mr. Kevin Plett and their Zone Playdowns are on May 24 and 25 in Mitchell. Check our website for schedules for senior boys’ baseball and senior girls softball action

Letters will be sent home to parents of grade 6 students regarding an information evening.  Grade 6 students will also be invited to Landmark Collegiate to get information about next year and meet their teachers.
  4. Grad information including banquet ticket purchases, will be sent home soon. Contact Mr. Sawatzky if you have any questions.
  5. Grad Photo Field trip on Friday, June 2, 2023. Details to come.
  6. Spring is a great time to do some learning trips. Teachers of various grades are looking at the educational opportunities that can extend the learning beyond the classroom. If you receive notification regarding a learning trip, please provide consent through the parent portal asap.
