Principal’s Message
Some highlights from the past month are:
Provincial exams for Grade 12 Math and ELA courses, and the end of semester exams for Grade 9 – 12 students. Our students were well prepared, and most had very good results! Congratulations to students and staff! On February 4, a group of students from our Life Works 20S class made a presentation to the Hanover School Division board of trustees. They did an awesome job of telling about the lunch competition and school! On Feb 7, Grade 12 students went on a ski trip to Falcon Ridge Ski Resort. I continue to be impressed with the joy that so many of our students bring to our school every day!
Music
The Optimist festival is coming up this month. The Senior Band will play on Feb 19 at 7:50 pm, and the Grade 8 & 9 Bands will play during the day on February 20. We wish all the students well as they participate in this festival.

Basketball

School Fees
Please check your children’s Parent Portal for any outstanding school fees. We have noticed some of the numbers creeping up, and appreciate your attention to this matter.
Cold Weather
Winter in Manitoba can be harsh, and we want to remind students that we need to be prepared for cold weather, HSD has cold weather information on their website. Please visit the HSD website check that out. We are also asking that students who travel by bus to wear a jacket, hat, and mittens. This is especially true for Grades 7 – 9 students who travel for their Shops/Home Ec classes in other schools. Bus drivers will require these for students to ride the bus.
Excusing Absences
Thank you for excusing absences in a timely manner! It really helps us manage attendance and support our students. Please note, if a student is marked as Parent Excused for a class, our expectation is that they will not remain on school premises during that time. If there are exceptional circumstances where a student needs to stay at school but not attend their scheduled class, we ask that parents contact the school to discuss arrangements with one of the principals or a classroom teacher.
