SCHOOL NEWSLETTER

October 2025

The first month of school has flown by, and many exciting learning opportunities have already taken place. Our middle schoolers enjoyed a day at Camp Manitou, and they have also started Tech Ed classes at Niverville Middle School. In high school, classes are rolling with a variety of electives and core subjects. The music of our band, science labs, volleyball practices, and more fill the hallways and classrooms. Thank you for your encouragement and partnership in making school happen here at Landmark Collegiate!

Parent Portal Student/Hot Lunch Fees

Parent Portal has been updated with student fees, including athletic, band, and tech ed fees, for the school year. Please take care of these and any outstanding fees from previous years as soon as you are able. After October, students whose fees have not been cleared will not be able to order hot lunch on credit but will need to pay for it up front before ordering. If you are struggling to pay this year or previous years’ student fees, please contact the office for a conversation.

Athletics Underway

Several sports are underway with exciting action at Landmark Collegiate. Our school golf team competed in early September in the Zone competition. Our varsity boys soccer team has been playing for several weeks with Ms. Nicolle guiding them. Mr. Enns has our middle years cross country team working hard and Ms. Friesen is leading the high school cross country group.  Also, our volleyball teams have been practicing hard with games and tournaments heating up as we head into October. Thank you to all of our coaches who are investing countless hours into our students. If you can find time to cheer on our 96ers, please join us! Schedules for our teams can be found here: lc.hsd.ca/athletics/

First Concert

Our first school concert will be on October 23, 2025 at 7 p.m. in our school gym. It will feature all of our bands and choirs except grade 7 band. Our grade 7 band is still very fresh and needs a little more time to prepare; we’ll see them at the Christmas concert.

Grad Meeting

With the school year starting to roll, we are already starting to discuss Grad 2026. Parents, we will have our first parent meeting on October 16, at 7 pm in the Learning Commons. During this meeting, we will review course/credit requirements, university entrance, and establish a Safe Grad Committee.

Terry Fox and Orange Shirt Day

There is a lot of action in September, including our Terry Fox and Orange Shirt Day events. Students enjoyed walking and running to the arena and back during our Terry Fox Run. It was exciting to see them all together. Between our hot dog and candy fundraiser, we raised $409 for the Terry Fox Foundation.

On September 29th, we honoured the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation or Orange Shirt Day, with student speakers and a very special presentation by The Mason Hoop Dancers. Some students even got to try out the hoops and show us their moves. It was an amazing morning of both hearing truth and participating in reconciliation through recognizing and celebrating another culture.

Drivers Z

Please be aware that Driver Z is not conducted by Hanover School Division. If you are interested in registering your child for this program, please follow the link on our website: lc.hsd.ca/students/drivers-education/. Winter courses will be available to find on October 10, and registration opens on October 15.

Options 2025

On Wednesday, October 8, the SRSS will be hosting Options, their annual Career/Post-Secondary Fair, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Gold Gym. They anticipate that approximately 20 universities, community colleges, Bible colleges, local businesses, and organizations will be in attendance to provide HSD students and their parents with an opportunity to explore the various options that are available to them after graduation. Landmark Collegiate students are welcome to attend.
