Thanks to all who supported our school fundraiser by purchasing or selling chocolates, the money raised will go to offset the costs for student extra-curricular activities such as sport costs, student council events, musical costs, field trips, grad costs, and special presentations.

Thanks to all who purchased Show and Save books from the PTA. The money donated from the PTA will go towards further developing the outdoor recreational area.

November is the first reporting period. Grade 7 – 12 reports will be posted on the parent portal on Friday, Nov. 16.

Parent teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, November 22, from 4:00 – 7:30. Parents can book appointments through the parent portal or by calling the office.

The parent portal is where parents can access information for each of their children such as attendance, report cards and school fee accounts. Contact the school if you cannot remember how to create your account.

Some grade 10 students are researching the effects of deforestation on our planet. They are hoping to raise awareness of this issue through presentations at both schools as well encouraging a paperless day on Wed. Nov. 7.  If you would like to learn more please call the school. We encourage everyone in our community to try to reduce their use of paper for one day.  The students also hope to do some fundraising to plant some trees near our outdoor recreation area.

We have about a month left in sixer volleyball season. Our varsity and JV teams have been doing well in weekend tournaments. The varsity girls won the Calvin Christian tournament on Oct. 13 and our boys lost in the finals of the Transcona Collegiate. The boys also advanced to the semis in Winkler this past weekend. Both teams will be playing in Brandon this coming weekend. Currently the boys are ranked 10th at the AAA Level. Come out and watch some of your middle years teams play. Only another 2 weeks for them.

Our senior choir will be performing at Choral Fest in Winnipeg on the morning of November 19, at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive.  Our Christmas concert is on Wed. Dec. 12 at Prairie Rose EMC.

The Music Parent Association is beginning their annual Christmas fundraisers. The three fundraisers are opportunities for students to raise funds for this year’s band trip to Chicago.  Students will be selling perogies, poinsettias and Epicure. Order forms for all three fundraisers are due on November 16, but delivery dates will be staggered.  The tentative delivery date for poinsettias is Wed., November 28. We will announce the perogy and Epicure delivery date closer to the time. Contact any band student or the school if you are interested in any of these fundraisers.

As we head into winter, the chances for inclement weather increases. You can find school cancelation and bus delay information on the HSD website at https://hsd.ca/
